i'm thankful for...this pup and reminders that life is short but imminently wonderful. i missed her a lot when i went home for the holidays (my family had to put her down in august) but i think it's always good to remember that we should spend as much time with the people and dogs we love while we can. oh, and tell people you love them...as often as possible. can't say it or hear it too much, and that's a fact.
i'm thankful for...EGGS. OH MY LORD. i know i've been thankful for these before but the biggest change i made in my eating habits was incorporating eggs. i hadn't ever had an egg before this time last year and i have not looked back once since that fateful day at the melrose diner. the above photo is my very first attempt at making an omelet. i actually haven't gotten any better at making them so i don't really make anything but fried eggs and scrambles nowadays, but i'm just glad i learned to love eggs in all their forms. oh and people? eat the damn yolks. they're worth every golden drop.
i'm thankful for... friends and the chances to hang out with them at weddings and otherwise. weddings are so much fun, for realz. being in weddings is also so much fun and i got the chance to be in one this past year and i've got two this coming year. nothing like getting together with all your best girls and drinking a bunch of wine, dancing and celebrating two people in love. when i moved to dc three and a half years ago i don't think i was aware of how my friendships would change and i'm so glad that i got the chance to spend even more time with old friends and make new ones.
i'm thankful for...my coworkers. just...thank god for these two. i'd be so lost without them.
i'm thankful for...the chance to spend time at home this summer. undoubtedly the best 3.5 weeks-ish of my year, on the whole. relaxing, cooking with my mom, running with my dad, eating meals with this view...couldn't have been better.
i'm thankful for...weights! i've started incorporating strength into my workouts on a more regular basis, and it's been a great change. thanks in large part to tina's bootcamp, but also to blogs and pinterest, i have definitely become stronger and more confident about my body due to weights. and i like them especially when they're pretty colors.
i'm thankful for...this texan. he's a real gem and it's been a really solid year for us. looking forward to everything 2013 has in store! armpops for everybody!
i'm thankful for...you guys! here's where i should link to all of my blends but i'm kind of lazy, so just know that i love you, i adore you and i'm SO thankful that i have gotten the chance to get to know some of you all over the past 7 months or so. it's amazing to me that i haven't been blogging for a year yet i feel like my life has been utterly changed by blogging and by the people i've "met". i cannot wait to keep getting to know you all better and i hope 2013 is full of ton of blend meetups! since we've already got several planned, i think that's pretty much a given :)
whew, okay that got ridiculously long. sorry, but i've just got a lot to be thankful for! 2012 was a big year!
<3
Couldn't agree more with the egg yolk thing.. haha looks like you had an awesome year! Can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteYou had such a great year by the sounds of it! Lots of things to be thankful for. I agree that those few weeks at home a year become so much more appreciated the older we get. I was dreading coming home for 6 long weeks of break but I've enjoyed every moment of it. I LOVE Tex's arm pops. So funny! You guys are adorable :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully we get to be real life friends soon! I, too, am so thankful for all of my blends!
it is so crazy to look back and see where the year has taken us. I can so see that you have grown into yourself and found what you really enjoy doing and what makes you feel your best. You are a great example to others. You have so many people in your life that you can be thankful for which is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI actually had a conversation yesterday about how often I tell the people I care about that I love them. It's like..excessive. But I think it's super important too to not just assume they know because you never know what's gonna happen. Cheesy, but true. Also thankful for eggs. And I have never eaten an egg without a yolk in my life. Egg whites? Don't get it. Yolks allll da way.
ReplyDeletelove how you made thankful thursday into a thankful YEAR! the egg thing is funny, i too am grateful that i tried certain foods this year, where was i without them before?! i also adore that view from your parents' place, nice! the best month i EVER had was the month off at home before starting work and after graduating from college. oh man to go back. happy new year!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've had an amazing year! I'm so glad I got to meet you (briefly) last summer. Hopefully, we'll be able to meetup sometime again!
ReplyDeleteWait wait wait. You had NEVER had an egg before this time last year? Never ever?! Oh man. Eggs have been a staple in my diet since I started eating solid foods. We're pretty set in our breakfast ways in my family, with MWF always being cereal or something similar, T/TH always being fried eggs with toast, Saturday always being either pancakes, waffles, French toast, or aebelskivers (a Danish pancake), and Sunday always being scrambled eggs and some sort of pastry-ish thing (quick bread, muffins, coffee cake...something along those lines). Every. Single. Week. So yes. I'm very familiar with eggs and love them dearly. I'm glad you've been introduced to their goodness. And I always keep the yolks in my egg, unless I had to separate eggs for a recipe and have leftover whites (which has happened exactly once, since how often do you have to use just the yolk and not the white in baking? Not very). It's great to see how much you had to be thankful for this year! Here's to even more to be thankful for in 2013 :)
ReplyDeleteYay for the marathon! Great things to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteFinally! I'm thankful for the fact that my stupid phone took my threats about what was going to happen to it if it didn't let me comment on your post seriously! 2012 looks like it had some outstanding moments for you, love...but i think 2013 will hold even more :) 22 days!!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly moly, how come I never knew that you ran the Chicago marathon?! I hope you didn't tell me and I forgot... But nonetheless, that's awesome :D I've heard great things about that race! You definitely have many things to be thankful for in 2012 and I'll betcha 2013 is gonna be even better!
ReplyDeleteI'M SO READY FOR BLEND MEET UPS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI never knew you ran a marathon before.. congratulations on that HUGE achievement girl!! 2012 surely treated you well, but may 2013 bring you even more happiness & joy!!!!! ((maybe even an engagement??))
ReplyDeleteEat the damn yolk!! Amen!!!!!! Worth it worth it worth it. And gasp! A picture of Molly in the middle?! What now?!?! Mind. Blown. ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though. I'm incredibly grateful to have you in my life. There are a few of my blends who, without you guys, I'd be still living in the dark and quite possibly back where I started. Instead, I'm stronger and happier (most days!) than I have been in at least a decade. I don't know what I would do without you. Less than 70 days til our meet-up (68, I think?) and they're gonna fly! (Then we're gonna fly!!)
2012 was kind to you, but I think that instead it was more a year of learning about who you are and acquiring wisdom. I know that 2013 will top it. Can't wait to see/read/hear about it as it unfolds. <3
